How can I or my loved one get into Living Free?
The facility stays full, so the majority of the time there is a waiting list for new applicants. There is no way to know until you contact us, and when we have overflow we do our best to work it out. To discuss your situation and the enrollment process, call us at (256) 338-4565.
How long is the program?
The program is 12 months. Potential clients should plan to commit to the entire program uninterrupted and arrange care of personal business before admission.
Are there meetings available or required?
Meetings are available and required for each client. There are several different meetings available daily for clients to attend including Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, and Celebrate Recovery.
Is employment required?
Yes. Living Free is a work-focused program. Men are required to gain employment and must keep employment throughout their stay. This teaches responsibility and prepares them for life after the program.
What are the admission requirements?
Applicants must be male, 18 years of age or older, able to provide their own daily self care, willing to obtain a Social Security card and photo ID, and willing to abide by all rules and policies of the facility.
What if I do not have any identification?
That is common, and we handle it in person with each resident. The process typically runs from a jail face sheet to a birth certificate, hospital medical records, a Social Security card, and finally a state photo ID. There are no online shortcuts. We go through it with you step by step.
Is there a background screening?
Yes. Every applicant is screened against the sex offender registry. Because the facility sits close to a school, we are unable to accept anyone listed on the registry.

Is Living Free a faith-based program?
Yes. Living Free is a Christ-centered program built on the belief that Christ is the answer to many of the issues that bind men who are addicted. The program is involved with Christ-centered ministries including Celebrate Recovery and Daystar Church. Men are required to attend church on Sunday mornings.
Where is Living Free located?
Living Free is located at 165 West Second St., Falkville, AL 35622. The facility has approximately 52 beds with a commons area, kitchen, and laundry.
What should I bring with me?
Bring basic personal items like clothing and toiletries. If you have a Social Security card, birth certificate, or photo ID, bring them. If you do not, we will help you obtain them. Having valuables and large sums of money is discouraged. For a complete list of what to bring, please contact us.
